Sender Domains and Emails

What is a Sender Domain?

A Sender Domain is a domain that you use to send emails from. By using a Sender Domain you can increase your delivery rates by ensuring that your email has been properly authenticated and signed before sending.

In order to add a Sender Domain, you must first own that domain, as you will be required to add specific DNS records to the Domain in order to verify your ownership. We recommend using a DNS Checker (such as whatsmydns.net) to check the propagation of your DNS records around the world.

DNS Propagation

Please be aware, that it can take up to 24 hours for some DNS records to fully propagate.

What is a Tracking Subdomain?

You can optionally specify a Tracking Subdomain when creating a Sender Domain.

A Tracking Subdomain is used in any open tracking URL's, click tracking URL's, or unsubscribe links in emails you send. It is a good idea to have a generic value such as 'link' for this subdomain.

What is a Return Path Subdomain?

You can optionally specify a Return Path Subdomain when creating a Sender Domain.

A Return Path Subdomain specifies where bounce notification emails should get sent. You can optionally choose a custom value for this subdomain or stick with the default value that is provided for your account.

What is a Single Sender Email?

Where you are not able to use Sender Domains, SMTP2GO allows you to authorise an individual email address to send emails from; we call these Single Sender Emails.

Only add email addresses that you control, as Single Sender Emails will need to be authenticated by clicking a verification link in your email, as opposed to verifying the entire domain.
